Throwback Thursday~Another Busy Day at the Convent

From a few years ago:

Another Busy Day at the Convent
The sisters were out early this morning hanging the laundry so it could dry in the warmth of the sun.
Then they were off again delivering food and shoes to the poor.

When they returned, it was time to gather fresh lettuce from the garden for the evening meal at the convent.
Of course, the lettuce had to be washed.

In the afternoon, they joined Saint Francis amongst the Butterfly Weed for the Rosary.
Moses, the convent cat, was laying close by in the Tiger Lillies.
In the evening, there was time for a little recreation
and a visit to the wild blackberry patch for an evening snack.

Makeup

This is where I sit,
on this lovely hand needlepointed stool,

when I put my makeup on...that is when I wear makeup.  :)
I got this sweet vintage handpainted trash can from my grandmother,

and this matching cup.

The lamp is one of my favorite antique store finds. I looked at it for several months before I bought it, which is not unusual for me.

This is the pleasant view from where I sit. I see the Rose of Sharon and the Tiger Lilies that lie right outside the cottage garden picket fence.

With all this loveliness, maybe I should wear make-up more often. Or...maybe not.

Verticle Gardens

Our verticle gardens are doing quite nicely!

We have kale, chard, radishes, peppers, parsley, dill, basil and chives.

Throwback Thursday~Feeding the Hungry

From a few years ago:

Feeding the Hungry

Today after mass, the nuns returned to the convent to prepare food for the hungry, and then went out to distribute it.
Later, after all of this, even the good sisters needed some recreation.

Invitations

My Cath Kidston stationary came today.
Isn't it just gorgeous!!??
Each piece will be folded in half. An invitation will be printed on the inside inviting guests to dinner at the cottage honoring a dear girl that will be entering the convent. Then they will be placed in these sweet envelopes to mail.
Then begins the deep cleaning and menu planning. The week before, once the cottage is spotless, the tables will be set and the food prepared.
